HACKATHON PROJECT
Mobile Game Concept
As you all know the Pacific Northwest is best known to have gorgeous blue lakes, luxurious rivers, and breathtaking waterfalls surrounding the greater Seattle area. Even though the water in the Puget Sound looks really clean it is actually very unhealthy. For our Hackathon project, we created a mobile application that addressed the environmental issues of water pollution in our region. Our vision was to create an experience that educates players to learn about dangerous pollutants entering our local water systems while making it fun and interactive. We wanted to feature the Puget Sound and the Duwammish River specifically because in 2016, it was ranked as one of the top ten of “America’s Most Endangered Rivers”. In our mobile game, River Litter, it lets users play as a little boat in collecting trash while also traveling along the water. We wanted to teach people to be more mindful with their decisions that could affect marine life and inspiring others to live an environmentally friendly lifestyle. We want to encourage people to not only make an impact in our virtual game but also in real life to support our water systems.
