100 Images

For this project, I used a digital camera to take 100 images in exploring a specific theme and assemble them to a video sequence. I made a simple video in connecting these images into a progression in a way to manipulate time and space through editing. The challenge for this was to create a structured narrative without using sound or text elements to convey an understanding of the story using basic editing software.

Game Night

Stop Motion Video

One of the biggest inspirations for this project was that I am a big fan of stop motion animation films such as Kubo and the Two Strings and James and the Giant Peach. I admire the art styles and animations in each of these movies because of how fluid each of the movements are made in all of the characters and the objects in the background. Each scene felt alive and the details frame by frame looked very smooth and animated to the point where you don't even realize you're watching something that was shot one picture at a time.

While working on this project, it gave me a perspective of how much work you have to put in as an editor and as a developer in making sure that each picture was strung in a continuous sequence that was able to tell a narrative. The reason why I chose to create a story of a group of people playing cards is because I felt like is would be a simple way in recycling some of the images but still portray a night of endless fun with friends.
